Quebec Trip 2008 – Video

It’s two years later, but I’ve finally made a video of my photos from the trip I took to Quebec in the summer of 2008. Better late than never! I did it on Animoto, which takes your pictures and animates them with music. Very cool!
I hope to return to Quebec someday, or perhaps go to Nova Scotia and New Brunswick, where another branch of my family lived…who’s coming with me?

Ancestry of Marcella Martin and Bud Weber

Having worked my way through two or three genealogy software products over the years, I am now trying out a simple software that’s been around for a long time – for good reason. The Personal Ancestral File program (or “PAF”, as it is commonly known) was created by the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, and is one of the easiest to use programs available. It was also easy to export my family tree from Ancestry.com to a .GED file type, then import that file into PAF.
As I ...

Celtic Tarots Compared

The Celtic peoples have a rich history which lends itself well to the Archetypes of Tarot. Several authors and artists have accepted the challenge of connecting the classic figures found in the cards with Celtic deities and legends. On this page (which was created in 2005) begins an exploration of the multitude of tarot decks featuring archetypes and themes from Celtic history.

Cosmic Tribe Tarot

A Thoth-based deck by Stevee Postman, this deck uses manipulated photography of nudes and graphic design to create an effectively modern look at Tarot. For example, the Tower card is a tower of…televisions! The nudity may bother some but once you get used to it, it would almost seem wrong to put clothes on these beautiful tarot images.

Ancestor Wedding Photos

A great place to start my long-overdue update of my site is to re-introduce my ancestors’ wedding photos. We’ll start with Bud and Marce, my parents. Aren’t they adorable? I love my Dad’s hair. It has that old-hollywood-movie-star look about it.

Ancestor Trees – 2005

Note that this post is from 2005 – I’m converting old data into new posts! I hope to update these charts and somehow get them fully onto the web sometime this year.
I’ve put a compilation book up of my latest research going back about 6 generations on the Weber side and the Martin side. The book includes information on the military regiment in Canada that ancestors in several of the older generations belonged to, as well as information ...

My Genealogical Naming Practices

Anyone who’s done research into French-Canadian ancestry knows that the naming conventions are somewhat unique, generally owing to the small number of original settlers and the ensuing large family sizes. The result is that there would be several people living at the same time in the same area, all with the same name. In my genealogy documents I’ve taken a few precautions to help me distinguish individuals within a long list of names.
